A bit about me:

I’m Shayla, and I’m a certified Infant and Toddler Sleep and Well-being Specialist. I was born and raised in Whitehorse, and live here with my partner and our son. I have a background in Child and Youth Care and Early Childhood Education, and I’ve worked with many children, youth and families in a variety of settings for the past 11 years. Our family absolutely loves Partners for Children - we loved being a part of the Mother Goose and Mothering Your Baby programs, and I’m so happy to be able to share some of my knowledge around infant sleep with you!

As prepared as I thought I was, having my son rocked my world, and my transition to motherhood wasn't anything like I imagined it would be. Mix unrealistic expectations about how babies sleep, with pressure to sleep train, plus my son having undiscovered health issues, and it was the perfect recipe to sky rocket my PPA as I became obsessed with trying to control his sleep. I knew there had to be a better way - and when I found it, not only did my motherhood journey change, but I decided to pursue it as a career shift, too!

My goal is to help parents avoid all the stress, confusion, obsessing and overwhelm that tends to come with the world of baby sleep. I help tired parents understand and navigate their baby's sleep in a way that respects attachment and their baby's natural development, and that feels good for both the parents and their baby - so they can feel confident & empowered in how they respond to and support their little ones, all while getting the whole family the rest they need.
